Esira project for increasingly innovative rural areas
The cities of Rovereto and Pergine Valsugana hosted the presentation of a project dedicated to strengthening social innovation in rural areas. It is organized by Euricse. The Trentina Cooperation is a partner institution.
Two evenings dedicated to Esira, an acronym for "Enhancing Social Innovation in Rural Areas", i.e. a "project dedicated to strengthening social innovation within rural areas".
There are two initial stages (defined as Maps in the jargon of this initiative) of a journey destined to propose others in the Trentino area. “In essence – explain the promoters of the project – it is about promoting rural laboratories managed by territorial ecosystems whose activities are aimed at co-designing social economy initiatives to be tested together with the actors involved”.
The initial one-two took place in the cities of Rovereto and Pergine Valsugana. In the city of Quercia at the Auditorium of the Fondazione Famiglia Materna, in the center of Alta Valsugana at the brand new headquarters of the Fondazione Cassa Rurale Alta Valsugana.
Launched last January, Esira will end in December 2027. It is funded by the European Commission through Horizon Europe, the European Union's framework program for research and innovation.
The event, organized by Euricse (European Institute for Cooperative and Social Research based in Trento) and by the Trentina Federation of Cooperation (in the role of project partner) recorded the participation of numerous representatives of local communities and various public bodies and private. “Esira – add the curators – is an international partnership involving fifteen entities from Spain, Italy, Norway, Hungary, Poland, Serbia, Lithuania and France. It is coordinated by the University of Burgos. Objective: to promote socio-economic development and improve the quality of life of people at greatest risk of exclusion, through the promotion of local social economy initiatives, implementing innovative solutions for the benefit of more inclusive, resilient and prosperous territories".
During the meeting, representatives of Euricse and the Federation illustrated Esira's activities in the communities of Vallagarina and Alta Valsugana-Bernstol, focusing on the comparative study on the social economy underway in the Province of Trento. This study analyzes policies, services and initiatives aimed at the social and working inclusion of the most vulnerable people in rural communities. The next moment was entrusted to the interactive laboratory. Here, the participants expressed needs, proposals and contributions for the success of the project. This moment of discussion allowed us to collect valuable ideas and suggestions useful for defining Esira's future actions.
